First Tuesday E-Mail!

On Sunday we had sister Susan Tanner (former YW pres.) talk to us. It was amazing and so very uplifting. She talked a lot about the history of relief society and our heritage. That night for fireside we an amazing fireside about choosing what is right because angels are silent notes taking of every action. We also need to lay down our weapons of rebellion and do everything we can so that the spirit can be with us. Without the spirit we cannot teach and that is our purpose. Invite others to come unto Christ.
My companions name is Sister Harding. We have so much in common. She is a very sweet girl and this week has been a good week in the fact that we are learning how to teach with each other. We currently have two progressing investigators ( teachers acting like someone they taught on their mission) and one investigator from the TRC.(Teaching resource center) It is amazing how much love you feel for these people, even if they are pretending to be someone else. One of our investigators, Bob, is having a really hard time in his family life. ( in short, he is separated from his wife who is catholic and he grew up Jewish. They have two kids) He doesn't know if there is a God or anyone that cares because of all the bad things that have happened in his life. We had the opportunity to testify to him that we know that there is a loving heavenly father that has set in place a perfect plan for us and that if he goes to him in prayer willing to act on the promptings of the spirit he will get an answer. We will see what happens when we follow up this week.
The sisters here dress really cute. ill have to send you pictures mom of there skirts. lots of color, like the down east skirts. i am already sick of my clothes..of course! haha. We are going to print out some pictures we have taken and send them home hopefully this week so you can see my district, companion and such. Please send cute skirts. haha.
Thank you for all the work you have done on my blog. I love you so much! The shots were OK..they gave me a dumdum so it was worth it.
Sounds like you guys had so much fun Monday night! we ended up having a district inventory last night. Gotta love heart to hearts. :)

Love,
Sister Urie

First Letter Home

It was so exciting to receive a letter today from
Sister Urie.  I thought I would share a few things from
from her letter.

"I love and miss you so much, but to be honest time moves so fast here and I have had not time to really think about home.  I have never felt the spirit so strong in one place, besides the temple.

Sometimes I will see two elders in the hallway and want to go talk to them saying"You're missionaries and I'm going on a mission too!!
then I will look down and see my own name tag and feel very silly.

My Companions name is Sister Harding, she is so sweet.  the lord blessed me with a great companion.  we have so much in common its unreal.

I keep thinking about how I was able to work for Disney and wear their name on me, now I am employed by the lord with a different name tag representing someone who is perfect.

I am now starting to realize how hard this is going to be and what people who have done this before were meaning when they said they had never cried so much, or laughed so hard as they did while on their missions.

I will say I am grateful I had mission prep before coming.  What we did there is the same as what we are doing here and I am far more prepared than most.

P.S. I packed to many clothes :).  "Suitcase shopping" is going to be fun!!"
